Definition Of Vocabulary Development
LITERATURE REVIEW
This chapter entails the research about the vocabulary development among students. It has also covered the methods which are useful in building and developing the vocabulary.
2.1 Definition of Vocabulary Development:
Nation (1990) described the reason why researchers are interested in studying and exploring the term vocabulary. He said that due to L2 acquisition among the people there is a high need of investigation of the area of vocabulary. Therefore, L1 is a language which a person acquires from his/her mother tongue, while L2 is the second language of people. As it is difficult to learn the second language, the researcher’s interest is keenly drawn on this topic. There are basically two types of difficulties which learners usually have. These are productive and receptive. Both of these difficulties arise from an insufficient vocabulary. Learners possess such difficulties during the process of learning vocabulary even if they are at greater level of language performance and competence.
