ITC542 Network Design (Research)

 

Introduction

Techniques and methods will be discussed in this report for designing network in assessment 4.  Hence the routers, PCs and servers are used for designing network.  Since analysis of problems in a network, selection for hardware, set of configuration and many methods was done according to the requirements. Hence designing network includes protocols of routing, router configuration, LAN configuration and WAN configuration.

Recommendation for research

Software

Since implementation for designing network use tools of network simulation. Several software related to network simulation are available in the market (Solution, 2017).

  • Cisco Packet Tracer

By taking the help of this software implementation and designing of the network can be done in an easy manner.

Pros- Since this tool provides different services like VOIP, WIFI, 3G/4G capability and ISR router.

Cons- Major drawback of this software is that this tool is not free which makes it unable to download publically. Also, there is no option for open source (Packettracernetwork, 2018).

  • PRTG monitoring

Since it ensures that system is working smoothly and enhanced the efficiency of the network.

Pros-The problem of server performance and bottlenecks removed. It is Proactive which enhance the service quality.

Cons- 3G and 4G services are not available

Recommendation

Cisco Packet Tracer is better than PRTG monitoring as it is easy to operate. It provides many protocols such as Telnet, raw socket connection which is helpful in network designing. Also, it is user-friendly.

Addressing Scheme

Therefore scheme of addressing in Class Full and addressing in Class Less (Classful Vs classless addressed,2008).

Since networks which are large are not scalable.

  • Addressing in Classless: Since when low amount for address is required then addressing in Classless is used which is required to optimise.

Cons- more consumption of CPU, required information of addressing.

Network DesignRecommendation

Addressing in Classless would be more effective than addressing in Class more in addressing scheme for designing network.

Routing protocols

This assessment presents types of routing and best configure network routing will be recommended for designing network.

  1. Dynamic routing: It is used for the networks which are frequent changes when a change in topology occurs in the network.

Pros: It supports VLSM, Configuration is not hard, mostly used

  1. Static routing: Since static routing is used for a small number of networks in which fewer networks are required to configure.

Cons: Tendency is zero; It takes time in implementation for large networks, low scalability

  1. Distance vector protocol: If neighbor router sends updates to another router then routing table updated automatically and after every 30 sec routing table displays. RIP is the example of distance vector routing.

Pros: Hence it updates the routing table automatically after receiving an update from neighbor route.Part-1 Programming Assignment Help

Cons: Risk of routing loops are high.

Recommendation     

Distance vector protocol would be best routing protocol compare to static and dynamic routing protocol because it displays the routing table after every 30 seconds through active interfaces.
