Purpose:
When working in the administrative field, you will wear many hats. One of the most common and important jobs you will have is planning meetings and events. It is expected that all aspects of the meeting are considered and covered during the planning process. For that reason, this assignment will have you researching all pertinent information from planning to executing your event. As this assignment is worth 20% of your overall grade, I would expect you to put forth maximum effort, as if you were planning an actual event for your boss.
Objective:
The objective of this assignment is to become more familiar with the process of planning and executing a business meeting. You will be covering every detail from initial planning stages to the final product, including making arrangements for those who may not be able to attend. For this assignment you will use your complete class list for the names of attendees, you will be assigned a budget of $800.00 and a checklist of items that must be in the final copy of your package. Your final product must be submitted to the appropriate assignment folder on eCentennial as a Word document. This document must look very professional and include: a table of contents and title pages to organize each portion of the assignment. You may work with a partner for this assignment if you wish, but this is a task you will be expected to complete on your own in the workplace and practice makes perfect. You will be expected to research actual caterers, equipment rental companies etc. (references must be attached), to facilitate your meeting keeping your budget in high priority.
Scenario:
You have been asked by your boss to plan a meeting for 31 (number of classmates) people. This meeting will take roughly 4 hours, so lunch and refreshments will need to be provided for attendees.
